The grapes for the Grüner Veltliner Purus come from the Kittmannsberg, located in the southwest part of the town of Langenlois.
Kittmannsberg is characterised by a particularly thick layer of loess. This soil dating from Quaternary ice ages is particularly fine-grained and can store the heat of the sun well. It endows the wine with a rich body and soft acidity. Moreover, its lime content adds a succinct mineral note to the interplay of aromas. A big elder shrub, hornbeams, enchanter’s nightshade and blueberries turn the vineyard into an attractive, variegated place for many animals. Roe deer are particularly frequent visitors.
